Edmonton has so many things to do year round. One popular place to check out is West Edmonton Mall (West Ed). Whether you want to shop, grab dinner with friends, go to the water park, or try out mini golf, you will stay busy all day. Located in the west end of Edmonton, West Ed is just a short bus ride from UAlberta North or South Campus!
When I think of going to a mall, shopping is the first thing that comes to mind. With over 800 stores and services, you will surely find something that catches your eye!

Sure, winter gets a bit chilly in Edmonton, but we have overcome that obstacle with the indoor water park at West Ed! You can go for a swim in the wave pool, go for a ride on some crazy water slides, and take a break at the cabanas and snack hut. Many student associations hold events here with discounted ticket prices for students.

Marine Life and the Santa Maria
Right in the middle of phase 3 of West Ed you’ll spot a giant ship. The Santa Maria is an exact replica of the flagship Christopher Columbus used for his first voyage across the Atlantic (in 1492!). Right beside the Santa Maria is the Sea Life Caverns, which is an underground aquarium. You can check out all sorts of sea life, and even catch the Sea Lion show!

Mini Golf or Ice Skating
Practice your putting skills at this neat indoor miniature golf course. This is a great activity for you and your friends that is sure to be a lot of fun. Looking to try out skating? WEM has a full ice arena in the middle of the mall where you can rent skates and go for a glide!

Galaxyland is West Ed’s own indoor amusement park. If you like rides and rollercoasters, definitely check this place out.

At the end of your busy day of exploring West Ed, a movie is the perfect place to go. There is a full movie theatre in West Ed, complete with an IMAX theatre, concession stands, and even a pretend dragon suspended from the ceiling that breathes fire!
